In rural South Sudan, many ethnic tribes have a long tradition of a dowery for giving their daughters in marriage. In recent years the age of the girl has become younger and younger. NGOs like ADRA have been sensitizing parents on the dangers of early marriage, and the importance of sending their girls to school to get an education.
